Our Team

Reverend Odell Montgomery Cooper

Rev. Odell Montgomery Cooper is a Advocate for Mental Health, playwright, and author. Through her journey of reinventing herself, she created and became the Founding President of Interruptions: Disrupting the Silence, LLC, whose purpose is to engage diverse communities in discussions that dismantle stigmas of mental health in society, their cultures, and faiths.

As a result of her lived experience, Rev. O. speaks out against gun violence and the impact of generational trauma as it relates to emotional wellness. Rev. O is the author of the book, “Interruptions: Disrupting the Silence,” and the workbook “Let’s Talk” which is used as part of a peer-to-peer emotional wellness program. In 2021, she was the recipient of the Community Healing Network’s “Community Healer Award”; a presenter at the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN); and most recently facilitated discussions about her book at the Vatican Library.

Rev. O is a Motivational Speaker, and Biblical Adjunct Professor at Hartford International University and Grace Theological Seminary. She also serves on local boards in her community, including NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness), CTVIP (CT Violence Intervention Prevention), and CONECT (Congregations Organized for a New CT).

She received her bachelor’s degree from Howard University in Washington, D.C. and a master’s degree from Hartford International University.  Rev. O is a doctoral candidate at Grace Theological Seminary, as Doctor of Ministry in Interreligious Studies.

Rev. O is a mother, grandmother, and proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. Since her reinvention, she enjoys traveling, chess, gardening, and cycling.
